Traffic police or traffic officer, often known as traffic cops or traffic enforcers, are police personnel that direct traffic or work in a traffic or roads policing unit, enforcing traffic laws. Policemen who patrol main routes as well as officers who deal with traffic violations on other roads make up the traffic police force. It’s worth noting that:
…traffic cops, who are considered to be on the periphery of most police forces, take part in authoritative intervention as well as symbolic justice. Traffic Officer, perhaps more than any other duty, are full-service cops. They differ from the rest, however, in that their job is restricted to a certain location — specifically, public thoroughfares — and to a specific group of individuals — namely, drivers of motor vehicles. However, in terms of job, traffic cops are both investigators and patrol officers.
